Interview with Seeking Empire by Nick Miley

For anyone who digs Circa Survive, Smashing Pumpkins, or even Evanescence then you won't be able to stop listening to Paul Thomas's (Good Charlotte) new project "Seeking Empire." With their soft female vocals and melodic guitar rifts this is a great band to listen to when you're trying to relax. They have a real tranquil sound. Good luck trying to get their lyrics out of your head. I have been humming their sound "liar liar" to myself all afternoon.
  • How would you describe your music? Who are your major influences?
We are a female fronted rock band, in the realm of Paramore and Foo Fighters. We have heavy distortion as well as shimmery cleans. I would have to say that my biggest influences are Jim Ward, Tim Kasher, Stephen Carpenter, and Dave Grohl
  • Who and/or what serves as your inspiration?
8lb. 6oz baby Jesus, the Kardashians, 16 and pregnant....oh, for music?  I'd say listening to random songs.  Sometimes one note, or phrase can spark up an entire song.
  • What notable bands and artists have you worked/played with?
Paul Thomas of course, he's been quite an inspiration.
  • What's next for "Seeking Empire"?
We are going to record another album by the end of summer!  We're working on material right now, as well as a tour schedule.
  • When can we expect a new album?
By the new year.....or perhaps a little sooner!!
  • Where do you want to see yourself as a band by the end of 2012?
Madison Square Garden, limos, Kardashians....I may have gotten ahead of myself, we will be extremely focused on our performance, new music and touring.  Basically, I would like us to look toward bigger and better things.
  • What other interests do you guys have outside of music?
ATV's, brewing beer, and family.  Music is a very big part of our lives, so it's nice to spend some time with family and friends.  They can be a nice stress relief.
